Boat Launches
- MN DNR - located on the SE corner of the lake (paved parking lot with dock, launch area and seasonal portable services)
- Hubbard County - NE corner of lake (non-paved - rustic launch area) close to Schoolcraft River exit from lake
- Schoolcraft River - South off Co. Rd. 9/SouthLake Plantagenet Rd. SW by river (carry-in and rustic launch area mostly for canoes and kayaks)
Schoolcraft River
The Schoolcraft River flows from the south into Lake Plantagenet and flows out of the lake on its way to connect with the Mississippi River between Carr Lake and Lake Irving. You can paddle the river all the way to Bemidji to get a DQ.
Spearhead Environmental Center
The Spearhead Environmental Center on Spearhead Lake is west of Lake Plantagenet, just off County Rd 29.
Fern Lake County XC Ski and Hiking Trail
The Fern Lake County XC Ski and Hiking Trail is on the NW corner off Beltrami County Line/North Lake Plantagenet RD NW.
Paul Bunyan Bike Trail
Bike paved trails on old abandon rail road line from Lake Bemidji State Park through Bemidji to Brainerd (there are other bike trail connections along the way - the Heartland Bike Trail Walker to Park Rapids) Find places to park and ride along the way - ex. Guthrie
Roat Memorial Cemetery/Grant Lake Cemetery/Rockwood Township/Memorial Cemetery
This is located on the west side of lake (small, local cemetery maintained by Rockwood Township).
Newman Lake
Newman Lake to the west of Lake Plantagenet is designated as a stream-trout lake. Rainbow Trout are stocked and caught.
Geocaching
Try your luck at finding “Treasures” around the lake or on the Paul Bunyan Trail with geocaching. Free apps exist for downloading on your cellphone. Something fun for all ages.
Schoolcraft ATV/OHV Trail
Enjoy 29 miles of maintained ATV/OHV trails that start south of Lake Plantagenet off Co. Rd. 9 going south through the Paul Bunyan State Forest to Lake George.
